Frontiers in targeted modulation of protein function

On November, 28 - 29, 2016, a symposium "Frontiers in targeted modulation of protein function" was held at the BIOCEV center. The symposium was jointly organized by the Institute of Biotechnology CAS, v. v. i. (IBT) and the Weizmann Institute of Science (WIS) and was financially supported by the Czech Academy of Sciences and the Czech government.

Three talks held by the prominent scientists from the Weizmann Institute of Science took place on Monday morning:

 

  • Tamar Unger: The pipeline of protein production towards ‘well-behaved’ purified protein

 

  • Rina Rosenzweig: The many things we can learn about chaperone-substrate interactions through NMR

 

  • Ron Diskin: Structural Studies of Viral Glycoproteins

 

The programme continued with the talks and poster session for registered participants from WIS and IBT on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning.

We hope that this symposium will be a cornerstone of fruitful collaboration between WIS and IBT scientists. To stimulate it we want to continue in organizing scientific meetings and exchanges of students as well as senior researchers. We feel it would be important to prepare regular scientific grant proposals and, in the future, work on joint projects. The fact that both institutions, WIS and IBT, are directly involved in the European ESFRI networks, most importantly in INSTRUCT, could be an important support.
