From 8 to 10 October, the Institute of Biotechnology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic organized a workshop funded by the European research infrastructure Instruct - ERIC on computational approaches in the integration of structural biology techniques. The event was attended by 20 registered participants and 18 speakers.

The workshop provided a unique opportunity to learn about innovations in selected techniques of structural biology, allowed participants to get acquainted with the devices and discuss practical issues related to the properties of samples and data acquisition. The workshop hosted several excellent lecturers and developers of structural biology techniques, as well as scientists conducting high-level integration studies in structural biology. The event enabled the sharing of insights and knowledge between speakers and participants and also led to the emergence of new potential research collaborations. Seventeen lectures provided an overview of current methods of structural biology, presented the new development of this discipline and its scientific results. During the four tutorials, participants gained practical experience in advanced mass spectrometry, biophysical methods, crystallization and X-ray diffraction, and SAXSu. Seven computer tutorials helped to develop computational skills and practical applications of algorithms dedicated to individual methods or the integration of structural results. Participants were provided with learning material electronically, along with files and instructions for calculations.
