Schneider Bohdan, prof. Ing., CSc., DSc. Structural biologist who serves as Director at the Institute of Biotechnology (IBT) of the Czech Academy of Sciences and as well as the Head of the Laboratory of Biomolecular Recognition. He holds a degree from the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague, a PhD in crystallography, and is Professor of biophysics. His research focuses on the biophysical and bioinformatic analysis of biomolecular interactions, particularly between proteins (cytokines) and nucleic acids. His recent work has concentrated on the structural properties of nucleic acids. A key area of his research, originating from his postdoctoral studies at Rutgers University, is the description of structural variability and hydration of nucleic acids. The computational tools developed by the IBT group for nucleic acid analysis are publicly available at datmos.org. |
