PhD student - Laboratory of Structural Bioinformatics of Proteins

The Institute of Biotechnology of the Czech Academy of Sciences located in the BIOCEV research centre in Vestec by Prague announces an open competition in accordance with the Act No. 283/1992 Coll. on the Czech Academy of Sciences, and the Statutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences for:

PhD student 

to work on innovative projects in the field of structural bioinformatics.

Topic: New methods of validation and refinement of biomolecular structures

The successful candidate will be responsible for further development of datasets and methods available in the Laboratory of Structural Bioinformatics of Proteins at the Institute of Biotechnology for improved validation and refinement of biomolecular structures. The student will identify and exploit synergies of data and tools including but not limited to structural alphabets, flexibility of biomolecules, and protein and nucleic acids solvation. To promote their wide application the new methods will be tested in collaboration with already established network of experts from leading structural biology laboratories, authors of validation and refinement software, and representatives of the PDB.

                Experience with structural bioinformatics data formats, structural biology and structural bioinformatics tools, molecular modeling of biological systems, and/or programming skills is an advantage.
